How About A Fair Trade?

fair-trade-certified

The Concordia Student Union (CSU) commissioned me to organize this campaign for them, handing out 2000 reusable mugs in March 2004 during a fair trade café organized by members of Amnesty International Concordia and überCulture, student groups at Concordia made up of people passionate for change.

The mugs were black plastic, with the CSU logo in white along with the words ‘How About a Fair Trade?’ At the time, Amnesty and uberCulture were lobbying the Java U outlet in the Henry F. Hall building – the university’s busiest café – to go 100% fair trade with their coffees. Shortly thereafter they did. Laura Howard, Ezra Winton, Svetla Turnin, Rob Maguire, and Johanne Savoy were key organizers of the campaign.
